Siobhan McKenna today replaced outgoing NBN Co chairperson Harrison Young. McKenna has sat on NBN Co's board for three years and is also a director of Ten Network Holdings, DMG Radio Australia, Illyria Pty Ltd and the Australian Ballet.
Young's position expired last week after three years in the role.
"Ms McKenna brings extensive experience to the role and her expertise will help guide NBN Co. as it rolls out the NBN," Minister for Finance and Deregulation Senator Penny Wong said in a statement.
McKenna's "track record on the board over the past four years, her strong business advisory background and her clear grasp of the scale and complexity of Australia’s largest national infrastructure project will be of great benefit as we continue to roll out the NBN across the country," NBN Co CEO Mike Quigley said in a statement.
McKenna took her new position at an NBN Co board meeting this afternoon.
The appointment came as NBN Co announced that rollout targets for the year had slipped. The company in charge of rolling out the NBN said that its target of passing 341,000 premises by June this year will slip by three months.
