Coffs Harbour switches on to the NBN

Fibre services for the National Broadband Network (NBN) has been switched on in Coffs Harbour, NSW.
Around 2600 premises can now sign up for fibre NBN services in the region, following the first NBN cable being laid in the area in November last year.
Construction in the Coffs Harbour area has also started on around 22,900 premises, including in Korora, Sapphire Beach, Sawtell and Tormina, where construction is expected to be completed this year.
Around 15,000 homes in Coffs Harbour, Taree and Port Macquarie will be switched on to the NBN via fixed wireless.
Last night NBN Co downgraded its June 2013 target for the number of premises passed due to construction delays from construction partner Syntheo, the company's CEO, Mike Quigley, told a Senate hearing.
It has downgraded its target from just under 300,000 to 286,000 by June 2013.
