Optus customers experienced slow 3G speeds today in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria, a spokesman for the telco confirmed.
The slowdown started at 8:30 am AEDST and resolved by 10 am, the Optus spokesman said. “It was due to a software issue that had affected throughput speeds so 3G service was still active, albeit speeds were slower,” he said.
“The issue had affected a few APNs – it started at 8:30am AEDST and was resolved by approximately 10am AEDST,” the Optus spokesman said.
Optus suffered a three-hour 3G outage in July due to a router issue. That outage also affected Optus MVNO customers.
Telstra and Vodafone customers have also experienced network outages in the last few months. Telstra mobile customers dealt with call failures in late July, while Vodafone had an outage across six states in June due to an issue with one of its data routers.
All three telcos have been making major investments in their mobile networks. Vodafone in particular has acknowledged that have plagued its business.
