We capture the scene in Sydney's Apple and Telstra stores as the two stores open their doors to welcome eager iPhone 5 customers. As is the usual scenario for a new Apple product launch, the lines were long — snaking around half a block for the Apple store — the media was in the thick of it, and there was lots of crowd control on hand to make sure the footpaths weren't blocked (for the most part).
Check out some video footage and still shots below.
Apple store
Walking through the crowd, at least one person behind me wasn't too pleased about the congestion.

Lots of iPhone staff looking down.
Media on the left, the line to buy on the right.
And a very long line it was.
People waiting around the corner.
All the way up the block.
And around the other corner.
A long wait ahead for these folks.
Tesltra store
The big moment arrives a few seconds before the Apple store.
At the front of the Tesltra line, with a big cushy chair for the best queuer.
These guys also lined up in comfort.
The line wasn't quite as long as the Apple store's, but it had better scenery.

And, of course, the network TV trucks were there.
