Queensland data centre provider, iseek Communications, has expanded into New South Wales with the unveiling of a $100 million Tier III facility at Gore Hill Business Park in North Sydney.
iseek managing director, Jason Gomersall, told Computerworld Australia that the expansion was driven by a “significant” government and enterprise customer base in Sydney seeking rack space.
“The market we’re targeting is enterprise customers who want to get equipment out of their computer room into a quality facility,” he said.
“The data centre is in a great location, close to the central business district [CBD], and what we needed to serve our enterprise customers.”
Customers from the financial services, engineering and resources sectors have signed up to use the facility. According to Gomersall, approximately 40 per cent of the data centre space has already been leased.
In addition to the Sydney facility, iseek operates three data centres at Brisbane Export Park.
While the company has no plans to expand into other states beside New South Wales at this stage, Gomersall said that another Brisbane facility would be completed by the end of 2013.
“After 14 years of developing our business in Queensland we are now ready to expand our national network. This investment reflects our confidence in the future of the Australian ICT market,”he said.
