Vevo to offer music video streaming on Ouya Android console

Music video streaming platform Vevo will offer its service on the open-source Ouya console when it launches in May next year.
Vevo, which offers music videos from Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, and EMI, will be available for Ouya from launch, offering access to 50,000 music vidoes from 11,000 artists.
Ouya is a forthcoming console that uses Google’s Android platform, which is more typically found in mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones. The console is designed to be hooked up to a TV like an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, and will have a launch price of $99.
The project caused a stir when it was unveiled on crowd-sourced fundraising site Kickstarter on 10 July, surpassing its initial $950,000 funding goal to raise pledges totalling over $6 million (its Kickstarter funding deadline does not expire until 9 August).
Late last month Cloud gaming service OnLive announced that it would be offering Ouya owners access to more than 200 games.
