NBN builders say they haven't pulled plug

Telecommunications infrastructure Transfield and Silcar have denied that they have pulled out of the next round of NBN construction deals. The Australian Financial Review today reported that both Silcar and Transfield had decided against participating due to “delays caused by poor planning.”
“This morning’s AFR story implying that Transfield Services is set to `abandon’ the NBN is incorrect,” Transfield said in a statement. The company “has already successfully bid for one major work package and remains committed to the project.”
The article’s claim is “untrue,” agreed Silcar in a statement. “Silcar has and will tender for specific components of the NBN offered to it and remains 100 [per cent] committed to the nation building project both for the work we have in hand and for additional work in the future.”
NBN Co has also issued a public statement denying the story's claims. “All existing construction contractors are committed to the project and are keen to bid for additional work,” it said. “Far from scaling back, the rollout of the NBN is well and truly ramping up.
“That’s why NBN Co wants to involve more construction companies in the rollout and create more job opportunities for Australian workers.”
