Telstra offering flood-affected customers in NSW $50 mobile credit

Telco also working to restore services in Moree Plains and Tamworth

Telstra is offering its flood-affected customers living in Moree Plains and Tamworth, New South Wales, who don’t have a fixed-line service, $50 of mobile credit as part of a flood assistance package.

The package also allows fixed-line residents a free call diversion to another fixed or mobile service of the customer's choice, regardless of the carrier.

In addition, customers who use the free call diversion to divert their affected fixed-line home or business phone to their Telstra mobile service can make local calls on their mobile at fixed-line rates, in accordance with their selected HomeLine or BusinessLine plan.

Telstra north west NSW country wide area general manager, Tricia Wilson, said in a statement that the offers were applicable while customers remain without their fixed-line service or if customers were evacuated, for a maximum period of three months.

“There has been little damage to key Telstra infrastructure so far and technicians are working to fully recover any communications services which had been impacted by the floodwaters,” she said.

Telstra is in the process of restoring services to residents in North Bundaberg, Queensland, with a temporary cable and a fixed-line/mobile relief package to Tweed Shire customers.
