TechVoucher R&D pool opens for NSW SMBs

Small and medium businesses (SMBs) in New South Wales can apply for development funding of up to $15,000 following the release of the state government’s TechVouchers.

SMBs with one to 200 employees and turnover of less than $30 million are eligible to apply for the vouchers.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment, Andrew Stoner, said the pilot program aimed to develop commercialisation pathways by establishing connections between industry and research organisations.

“Businesses from a range of industries are eligible to apply, including those in ICT, agriculture and manufacturing," Stoner said in a statement.

SMBs need to propose a project which will benefit from a partnership with a research organisation – whether it is for further research, clinical trials or access to scientific equipment to support product development.

“We are particularly keen to see applications from businesses that have not previously worked with universities or researchers, and businesses located in regional NSW,” he said.

In October 2011, the NSW Government committed $3 million to an Interactive Media Fund designed to support digital content development, such as electronic games.
