iiNet signs NBN Co Wholesale Broadband Agreement

iiNet announced today it has reached an agreement with NBN Co and signed the Wholesale Broadband Agreement (WBA) through negotiations.

“We welcome NBN Co’s changes to the original WBA as a sensible and positive approach,” iiNet chief regulatory officer, Steve Dalby, told Computerworld Australia

Before signing the agreement, iiNet had issues with the WBA such as appropriate sharing of risk and liability resulting from use of the network.

“Major issues are the… lack of accountability for network outages or negligence by NBN [National Broadband Network],” Steve Dalby told Computerworld Australia last year.

Primus Australia also signed the WBA today, as the term of the agreement was reduced from five years to one.

Primus chief executive, Tom Mazerski, told Computerworld Australia that the deal will pen up new markets for the telco and enhance its fibre rings, optical transport network and Metro Fibre network.
