Updated: Dept of Finance appoints new CIO

The department has picked up TransACT IT head, Rozanne Frost

The Federal Department of Finance and Deregulation has appointed TransACT general manager of IT, Rozanne Frost, as its new CIO.

A department spokesperson confirmed Frost would commence in the role early next year, taking over from Graham Fry, and will report to the deputy secretary of the department's Chief Operating Officer Group, Jenet Connell.

Department assistant secretary of the Business Applications Services Branch, Paul Stokoe, has been acting in the position in the interim.

"Ms Frost will work closely with the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO) to implement key government policies and better practice in IT and related initiatives," the spokesperson said.

"Rozanne brings several years’ extensive experience operating in an IT environment in both the public and private sectors.

"She is currently the General Manager, IT for TransACT, with responsibility for the IT strategy and provision of IT services to support the telecommunication business processes for client and business requirements."

Frost has an extensive background in the industry, starting out as a programmer at Newcastle-based BHP Steelworks before moving up to work as part of a taskforce in the four-year implementation of a governance framework which underpinned BHP IT. Following this, Frost took on numerous roles including IT manager of BHP Engineering and then program director at BHP IT, where she would oversee a $20 million portfolio of projects.

She also worked in project manager roles for CSC and the Health Insurance Commission before taking up the role of CIO at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).
