iiNet (ASX: IIN) has unveiled its latest Cloud offering, which is aimed at small to medium businesses (SMB).
At a media event in Sydney, CEO of iiNet business Greg Bader unveiled the business Cloud project, saying that partnerships are vital to the success of the project.
“The partners we’re working with on this are obviously industry leaders, and VMware is the biggest one,” he said.
The project will leverage iiNet’s data centres in Canberra, Melbourne and Perth, with Bader saying this was due to customer hesitation around off-shoring.
“The data is all stored locally and that’s one of the customers asked for,” he said. “This is mainly a perception issue, but storing data locally made sense for us.”
Bader said while the business Cloud package was conceived prior to its recent acquisition of TransACT, he did say the merger would be of benefit to such Cloud based projects.
“Up until now, the growth in our business has been down to a small group of people and it has been somewhat accidental,” Bader said.
“TransACT are going to add a level of knowledge and skill to us that we don’t have today, especially around the government side of the business.”
