Webjet not impacted by Qantas grounding

Webjet experienced a spike in booking activity over the weekend

Online bookings company Webjet experienced a spike in booking activity over the weekend because of Qantas' grounding of its fleet.

Webjet on Monday said it did not expect any material impact on its revenues as a result of Qantas' grounding of its entire fleet.

But, it said, total transaction values were up by more than 40 per cent from normal levels during Saturday and Sunday.

Downloads of Webjet's iPhone application also doubled, the company said.

Managing director John Guscic said Webjet was delighted that Qantas would resume flying on Monday.

Webjet shares were steady at $2.41 at 1217 AEDT.
