Empired extends $14m contract with Main Roads WA

Company to provide IT project services for a further two years.

Perth-based IT services company, Empired (ASX: EPD), has extended its three-year $14 million infrastructure and project services contract with roading contractor, Main Roads Western Australia, for a further two years.

Under the terms of the contract, the company provides service desk, desktop, server and network managed infrastructure services to Main Roads. The roading contractor is responsible for WA's highways and roads which represent 30 per cent of the state's assets.

Empired managing director, Russell Baskerville, said in a statement that the company had proven its expertise in managing not only the core operational systems but extending its services into other areas of the Main Roads business including traffic operations centre and traffic control systems.

Main Roads information management manager, Geoff Wilson, said in a statement that the company had undergone many changes over the previous three years, including IT systems growth.

“Main Roads is undertaking major initiatives to implement information technology infrastructure library [ITIL] best practices across all operational systems, plus delivering on a roadmap for technology transformation throughout the organisation,” he said.

In addition to the contract extension, Empired recently posted its financial results for the full year ending 30 June 2011. Revenue was up 42 per cent to $39.71 million and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) of $1.28 million up 132 per cent.

Baskerville added that the company was contesting a number of contract wins and expected a “solid half year result.”
