Roll out of NBN unfair: Vic government

The Victorian government says the roll out of the federal government's National Broadband Network (NBN) is unfair because not enough priority is being given to Victorians.
The company undertaking the work for the federal government, NBN Co, is about to begin construction work on the next stage of the rollout of the high-speed broadband network.
The company released a 12-month plan on Tuesday, listing 28 new locations in each state and territory where construction of the fibre optic network will start between now and September 2012.
Victoria's minister for technology, Gordon Rich-Phillips says while Victoria has a quarter of Australia's population, it is unfair that the state is only getting 12 per cent of the national share.
"We believe the roll out should have regard to the size of Victoria's population," he told ABC radio on Wednesday.
"We should be getting our fair share of this initial roll out."
He said only 61,000 Victorian households were receiving NBN connection under the program, out of 485,000 being rolled out in the first year.
He wants the federal minister for broadband, Stephen Conroy, to intervene and persuade NBN Co to connect more of Victoria to the network.
"We'd like to see the Commonwealth address that in this initial roll out and subsequent roll outs," he said."

Stop your bleeting and crying Vic try being in WA and then come back and cry, your sense of entitlement is pitiful as usual.
Seeing as Vic is sucking in more cash than its producing it should step up and earn the right.
My word that felt better.

What is up with the Vic Government... stop complaining and wait like everyone else.

Hahaha. Victorian govt: "not enough priority being given to Victorians".
Now let me see; who was it again who couldn't wait to impose an NBN opt-in condition on the residents of Victoria?
So why on earth would NBN Co want to give priority to the Victorian Victorians?
hmmm
Optus and telstra rolled out there cable in like 3 years in most cities and in following years they completed the bulk of there roll out .
It has taken 6 years and the government has not even complete 5% of there system , If you still think your getting high speed fiber , keep voting for the fairy tale .
gnome
@hmmm - it seems the fairy tales are all coming from you.
Optus and Telstra rolled out their cable only in some parts of some cities, and didn't even get near the edge of those urban areas.
NBN has not been under construction for six years, in fact it's less than two since the project started.
If you are going to quote history, try quoting it as it happened and not as you've just rewritten it.
