Kaspersky launches endpoint security offering

Kaspersky Lab has launched its new endpoint security solution, announcing details of Endpoint Protection 8.0 and Security Centre 9 in Sydney last night.

With the company hoping the products will help increase Kaspersky’s enterprise security market share in Australia by 20 per cent in the next 12 months, managing director of Kaspersky Lab Australia and New Zealand, Andrew Mamonitis, said the products leverage Cloud computing to give real-time updates.

“It features technologies that can help boost business performance by using the Cloud to identify threats faster, virtualizing computer desktops, enabling a more mobile workforce and integrating personal mobile devices into the IT network,” Mamonitis said.

“End Protection 8.0 is a big step forward building on our award winning technologies that Kaspersky is renowned for.”

Kaspersky customer, Opera Australia’s CIO, Grant Creswell, spoke at the event, using the opportunity to share details on his game plan for IT at the not-for-profit.

“Opera Australia doesn’t operate like any other arts company or organisation and in 1997 we took the decision to outsource everything, including the role of CIO,” he said.

“...We get every dollar of life out of our IT infrastructure and it's important for us to understand what to do and we move to outsource everything.”

Comparing the decisions made on the football field to those in the IT sector, Manly Sea Eagles coach, Des Hasler, also spoke.

“There are always only two choices — there is a choice to help or to hinder,” he said. “Those two choices will show where your success will be going.”

Endpoint Protection 8.0 and Security Centre 9 will be available from 20 October.
