In a move to improve its customer service, Harris Farm Markets had deployed a network to support its point of sale and inventory management.
Australia’s first fresh fruit and vegetable supermarket chain rolled out Juniper’s SRX Series Services Gateways as part of an overall IT revamp, with IT manager, Ian Lapid, saying that the rollout had already reduced operational costs.
"We originally scoped the branch network for ourselves, but IBM proposed a more cost-effective and functionally superior solution," Lapid said.
“The Juniper SRX Series consolidates enterprise-grade routing, switching and security on a single device, which reduced our capital cost.”
The network has in-built security features and runs on the Junos operating system, and will be rolled out to 23 store and warehouse locations across New South Wales.
The company has also deployed SRX Series Services Gateways, which is aimed at integrating routing, switching and security, and supporting Juniper’s mobile fleet of devices.
The IT revamp also includes the rollout of a data bridge to support point of sale devices through Ethernet connections.
The Harris Farm announcement is the second for Juniper this week, with the vendor deciding to expand and open a Melbourne office because of new opportunities offered by the NBN and the acquisition of new clients in the financial sector.
