Australian businesses looking to move to the Cloud may experience shorter implementation times following the launch of BizCloud, an on-premise private Cloud service from business technology provider, CSC.
In-depth: Cloud computing strategy guide.
According to CSC, BizCloud could be usable in 10 weeks, and is designed to accelerate the adoption of a private Cloud by businesses and government agencies.
CSC US Cloud computing and software services vice president, Siki Giunta, said the company provided an off-premise public service, off-premise private Cloud and now, on-premise private Cloud or otherwise known as BizCloud.
BizCloud features CloudCompute, the vendor's latest infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) architecture, which is deployed in two data centres located in Sydney and Melbourne.
The CloudCompute infrastructure is built on a Cloud fabric offering called Vblock infrastructure platforms from VMware, which also incorporates unified networking from Cisco and storage from EMC.
"This allows users to take advantage of a hybrid approach by keeping mission critical applications on premise with BizCloud while using CSC's off premise Cloud for disaster recovery, business continuity or for setting up agile development and test environments," Giunta said in a statement.
CloudCompute is offered in three packages, including standard, enterprise and enterprise plus.
To further its push into Cloud services in Australia, CSC has appointed Paul Gibbs as Cloud computing/services general manager.
Giunta said that Gibbs will be responsible for deploying the vendor's Cloud strategy and increasing its customer footprint in Australia.
The company is currently working with financial services organisation AMP and provides collaborative online services (COS), including private Cloud-based email, email and instant messaging based on the Microsoft product set, such as Exchange, Office Communication Server and SharePoint.
