In Brief: Logica appoints director focused on resource and defence sectors

The company appointed Darren Covington as the new director of public sector, transport, logistics and asset intensive industries

IT provider Logica Australia has appointed Darren Covington as its new director of public sector, transport, logistics and asset intensive industries.

In the role, Covington will focus on supporting Logica’s expansion in the resources and defence sectors. “Public sector is a high demand area for Logica,” Logica chief executive Asia Pacific and Australia, Colin Holgate, said in a statement.

“Darren will use his terrific experience and enthusiasm for complex IT change programs to lead our client teams delivering in the complex health, security and policing services. “In addition, our Transport and Logistics sector has been delivering core projects to road infrastructure and traffic managers, rail infrastructure and operators and to the post and logistics sectors for many years.

“This is an important part of our business and Darren brings comprehensive multi-national sales and service experience to strengthen and expand our offering.” According to Covington, Logica has a strong focus on key industry verticals including transport, energy and government.

“My goal is to build on this strength and expand into adjacent markets with similar needs, particularly resources and defence,” Convington said. Prior to joining the company, Covington was held a vice president role with HP and also worked for IDS Scheer Pacific Region, Silicon Graphics and IBM with clients in a number of verticals including resources, gas, oil and defence.
