Rutgers engineers took first place in a scalable computer competition at an IEEE symposium after demonstrating their supercomputer cloud computing environment--which they controlled using an iPad. Meanwhile, I managed to stay focused in seven separate games of Words With Friends, so to each his own, I say.

According to Joshua "Top o' the Mornin'" Topolsky, Apple will unveil an iPad 2 sequel later this fall with a screen featuring double the resolution of Apple's current tablet. Apple marketing is still working out what to call the rumored iPad HD's display, but I'm rooting for "Fly Eye Retina Display."

It seems the innards of an HP TouchPad cost just about the same as the innards of an iPad 2. Of course, reviews of the TouchPad have repeatedly compared it--unfavorably--with the iPad. Which just goes to prove that old adage, kids: It's what's on the inside that counts, with the sole exception being what that stuff on the inside costs. Meanwhile, I still fear the day our tablet computers rise up and disassemble us instead.

Georgian President's Son Breaks World Record for Fastest Typing on iPad (FoxNews.com)

A 15-year-old boy has been named the world's fastest iPad typist by the Guinness Book of World Records. And it just so happens that the boy in question is the son of Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili. And it also just so happens that Georgia had a $500 military budget last year. I'm not saying there's a connection. Because Georgia may well know where I live.

Motorola Mobility Cuts Tablet Price (Zacks.com)

Good news! Motorola has dropped the price of the Xoom tablet to $499, a drop of $100. So now it's just as affordable as an iPad. I'm confident that will solve all of Motorola's tablet sales woes and--hahahahahahahaha. Sorry, I tried to keep a straight face. Really, I did.

It's great to see so many tablet options, and we hope to see more that are specifrically designed around the enterprise user and Unified Communications. CIO's want to be able to control a devices functionality and security along with providing users with an integrated UC experience, such as the Avaya Flare as an example.
Im sure we will see more of these in the coming months.
