Finalists named in government ICT awards

The Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO) has pointed to the best uses of ICT at all levels of Australian government with the announcement of finalists in the 2011 Excellence in eGovernment Awards.

The awards, designed to recognised initiatives in eGoverment and the achievements of the ICT industry, this year included two new trophies for Gov 2.0 innovation.

Revealed in an entry on the AGIMO blog this week, Special Minister of State, Gary Gray, said the finalists would be assessed by a national judging panel made up of state and territory CIOs and independent ICT industry representatives.

The winners will be announced on 1 June.

In addition to the finalists announced, nominations for the ICT Young Professional of the Year Award, rewarding those under 35, opened this week.

eGovernment finalists

Applications Development category:

• Department of Justice, Victoria for a FireReady applications project.
• Local Government Procurement (Local Government and Shires Associations New South Wales), VendorPanel.com/LGP project.
• NSW Department of Education and Training, essential secondary science assessment online practical component project.

Geospatial category:

• Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR), Canberra, Spatial Empowerment of Users at DEEWR project.
• Department of Sustainability and Environment, Victoria, Positioning Regional Victoria project.
• Wyndham City Council, Victoria , WynCrowd project.

Government 2.0 category:

• Australian Bureau of Statistics, ABS BetaWorksTM project.
• Country Fire Authority, Victoria, CFA Connect project.
• Queensland Police Service social media for emergency management, communications and public relations project.

Project Management category:

• CrimTrac for CrimTrac IT Service Continuity Project
• WorkCover Corporation, South Australia for Project Harry

Service Delivery category:

• Australian Electoral Commission, Virtual Tally Room project
• Department of Business and Innovation - Information Victoria, VPSHubproject
• National Library of Australia, Trove project.
