BMC has purchased Coradiant, maker of software for improving end-user experience and tracking Web application performance, the company said Thursday. Terms were not disclosed.
The deal will give BMC "the industry's most comprehensive solution for anticipating and proactively addressing the end-user experience requirements of our customers' businesses," said Paul Avenant, senior vice president, ESM solutions and brand management, in a statement.
Coradiant's technology allows customers to track the performance of on-premises, virtual and cloud-based applications. It competes with vendors such as Keynote, OPNET and Compuware.
Application monitoring has both an inward and outward-facing purpose.
On one hand, it can help IT pinpoint usability issues with enterprise applications, helping worker productivity. Companies can also use the technology to make sure their public portals and e-commerce sites are running fast and problem-free.
BMC now has application monitoring capabilities that allow for easy "forensic analysis" of user experience data, according to its website. It can also "tie user behavior to application performance and [provide] a detailed record of the problems that occurred during each customer visit," the company said.
The acquisition will also give BMC an additional tool to compete with fellow "Big Four" systems management vendors CA Technologies, Hewlett-Packard and IBM.
