The new chief executive officer for Fujitsu Australia, Mike Foster
Mike Foster, managing director at Fujitsu services subsidiary Kaz, has taken on the chief executive role at Fujitsu Australia New Zealand (FANZ).
He replaces Rod Vawdrey, who Fujitsu Global this week announced would be moving to head up the company’s global business group as president.
Foster moved to Fujitsu after the global IT services provider acquired Kaz from Telstra in a $200 million deal in 2009, bringing Fujitsu’s local headcount to more than 5000. At the time, Foster had been on the board since at least 2004.
Fujitsu has aggressively moved to capitalise on a growing local Cloud market in recent months, building further data centre around Australia for the deployment of Microsoft and other hosted platforms. It has also nabbed several high-profile customers of late, including Toyota Australia which aims to move its own and franchise dealerships to a Cloud-based client management system.
Foster is well versed in Australia's IT industry; he spend nine years in senior executive positions at Telstra, including as managing director for business sales in addition to the KAZ Group. He has also held the role of managing director at EMC Australia and New Zealand and at NCR Australia. “Mike brings a wealth of experience to the role as well a broad knowledge of the Australia New Zealand market,” Vawdrey said in a statement. “We have much to be proud of with the accomplishments of FANZ over the last five years in achieving profitable growth year on year. I am confident that, under Mike’s leadership, FANZ will continue to build on that success.”
Foster’s will continue Fujitsu's focus on areas such as Cloud services, applications services, managed services, network services and IT outsourcing, according to the company.
