Garrett launches new My School website

My School 2.0 now live

The switch has been flicked and the federal government's controversial My School 2.0 website has gone online.

School education minister, Peter Garrett, sent the site live at a Franco-English school close to Parliament House in Canberra.

Garrett said it was a good day for parents.

"Today, My School 2.0 goes live," Garret said on Friday morning.

"What a great day for parents around Australia."

Some schools have questioned the accuracy of the financial data included on the site for the first time.

But Garrett told reporters he was confident the information was "valid and accurate".

My School 2.0 reveals some schools are getting by with as little as $3000 per student while others are receiving $150,000 a head from all sources.

Earlier on Friday, Garrett conceded that, as with the earlier version of the site, it would be possible to create league tables from the new information.

But he stressed it would take a "huge amount of effort".
