iiNet subsidiary Westnet has reported that a server outage mid-last week, which affected email services for some 5000 customers, has been restored.
However, the internet service provider (ISP) warned that customers will experience a delay in receiving some emails.
At the time of the outage on 23 February, there were reports that a similar fault occurred the week before.
In a statement on its website, the ISP said mailbox access had been restored along with member access to Westnet webmail.
Email that was queued since the beginning of the outage was now being delivered.
“While mail held in the mailbox prior to 11:50pm on Wednesday 23 February will not be available just yet, restoration of these messages is under way. Meanwhile, rest assured that we’ll issue more updates as soon as information is available,” the statement read.
According to comments on industry forum, Whirlpool, customers are still experiencing problems with receiving emails.
In a post on the site, a user claiming to be a Westnet customer said they had gone four days without email and now considered the ISP’s service a joke.
