Apple iPad 2 delayed until June

The launch of the highly anticipated next-generation Apple iPad looks set to be pushed back until June.
According to Reuters, Taiwanese brokerage Yuanta Securities has said the iPad 2 is being subject to a production bottleneck following changes to the design by Apple at the beginning of February. The device was originally slated to ship in April this year. However, Apple's latest changes to the tablet PC have meant component makers were forced to change their production processes.
"Our checks suggest new issues are being encountered with the new production process and it is taking time to resolve them," Vincent Chen, head of downstream tech equities at Yuanta, told Reuters.
Yuanta also predicted that if the device is delayed until June, Apple is likely to ship 23 million devices this year, rather than the 30 million that was first predicted.
Both Apple and Hon Hai, the company that control manufacture of the device, declined to comment.
Last month, rumours on the web predicted the Apple iPad 2 will feature a high-resolution Retina display and will be powered by a dual-core graphics chip. The high-resolution screen and faster GPU would allow the iPad 2 to play 1080p HD video, according to an AppleInsider report citing sources familiar with the matters.
