SAP reorganises and shuffles its senior execs

Now what is happening on the product side?

SAP has announced a significant rejig of its senior directors to accompany a restructuring of its Global Field Organisation - the ERP giants' sales and services structure.

SAP Co-CEO Bill McDermott said, "We are aligning our Global Field Organization behind trusted leaders to focus our energy on delivering innovation and business value for our customers."

Ray Wang, founder of analyst house Constellation Research, said the moves were "solid choices" for SAP and its customers. "Product teams must align with field teams," said Wang. He added that the reorganisation raised questions about what is happening with SAP's product lines.

Jos Duarte has been appointed president of Global Services, which includes SAP Consulting, SAP Education, SAP Custom Development and SAP Maintenance Go-to-Market. Duarte was previously head of the EMEA operation, which will now be led by Franck Cohen.

Eric Duffaut will takeover the Global Ecosystem & Channels responsibility, charged with sharpening SAP's links with outsourcers, system integrators, technology partners and the channel. He will also drive sales of SAP's much delayed Business ByDesign SaaS offerings and try and drive up interest among SAP partners for the products.

Robert Enslin is taking over as president of Global Sales, where "he will bring customer experience", said Wang. Enslin's former role as president of SAP North America will be handled by, Robert Courteau

Sanjay Poonen has been appointed president of Global Solutions Go-To-Market, and has dual reporting lines to SAP Co-CEOs McDermott and Jim Hagemann-Snabe.

Poonen will drive a reorganised operation which for the first time combines the company's industry, line-of-business, and business analytics & technology teams with specialist sales teams.
