IT services provider PicNet has signed a deal with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) to supply its Mouse Eye Tracking web analytics software.
The software offers graphic representations of how each individual visitor, and the majority of visitors have been reading each page of a website.
DAFF purchased the software with a 24-month support package and is using the hosted version of the analytics service to understand the behaviour of visitors to its website and intranet. The Department had been investigating the potential of using eye-tracking systems to improve the effectiveness of their website, but cost had been a prohibitor.
Mouse Eye Tracking provided the solution for analysing and evaluating the online behaviour of their website visitors.
PicNet managing director, Marco Tapia, said in a statement that Mouse Eye Tracking gives users a visual representation of what is happening on their page.
“By viewing a heat map of a session you can see where actual mouse clicks took place,” he said.
After using Mouse Eye's free service to check for accuracy and effectiveness, DAFF installed a self-hosted appliance version of the offering on its own servers to record higher numbers of sessions.
It has calculated that it is getting 15,000 visitors daily from Monday to Friday. The customer facing department website is attracting 10,000 visitors per day.
