Zune Australia users to get more services

Video purchases, rentals launched

Microsoft is planning to expand its Zune offerings in Australia.

The company has announced that customers can purchase and rent movies to watch on the Xbox Live, Windows Phone 7 and Windows platforms from this month.

Zune is built into the music and video hub on each Windows Phone 7 and acts as the synch software for those devices.

Customers can use the Zune PC software to manage and play digital media and transfer music between devices.

They can also watch videos synched from a PC and listen to FM radio.

Music purchasing services Zune Pass and Marketplace will also be introduced in the UK, France, Italy and Spain but a Microsoft spokesperson could not confirm when those services would be available in Australia.
