Queensland Government seeks IP telephony supplier

Plans to establish preferred supplier agreement

The Queensland Government’s Department of Education and Training wants to begin a preferred supplier agreement for the delivery and installation of internet protocol (IP) telephony systems on a state wide basis.

This will support the requirements of Queensland state schools. Suppliers will need to maintain as well as supply the hardware.

Some of the school phone systems are up to 12 years old, according to tender documents.

The department’s intention is to have no analogue handsets in schools. In the event of a power failure, it will supply the school with a handset that they can plug into the fax line and use as a telephone.

The tender closes on Friday, October 1.
