Compliance and security compantTripwire has launched a new version of its software to incorporate Remediation Manager, a feature that helps organisations automate their compliance processes.
Enterprise 8.0 supports a wide range of compliance policies, including PCI, Sarbannes-Oxley and FISMA said Rob Warmack, senior director of international marketing for Tripwire. "But it's not just about finding problems, it's getting them fixed too. It's a bit like going to your doctor, you don't just want him to find out what's wrong with you but what's he going to do to fix you."
He said that the use of Remediation Manager would drastically reduce the time administrators spent fixing compliance issues. "We've taken the mundane task off an IT adminstrator's plate," he said. "We've done a lot of automation - it's automation with a capital A. It's crossed three areas: compliance, security and operations."
He said that this was an extension of the company's VIA suite, which offered visibility, by keeping track of changes, intelligence and automation
Warmack said that it wasn't just a question of conforming to internationally recognised compliance standards. "Remediation Manager will work for any organisation that has a security policy - doesn't have to be an internationally recognised."
The product has been designed to be effective within large enterprises where keeping compliance records on thousands of servers could be arduous but Warmack said that SMEs would also benefit as many of them had only administrator to monitor compliance changes.
