Install Microsoft Fix it Center

When Fix It needs a fix: Error message when trying to install Microsoft Fix It Center

QUESTION: I get an error message when trying to install Microsoft Fix It Center on my Windows XP Service Pack 3 PC. It reads: 'Detail: The remote name could not be resolved: go.microsoft.com'.

ANSWER: The program is trying -- and failing -- to contact the Microsoft website. It may be that you're having internet-connection issues or that a firewall is preventing access.

Check whether the executable or ports that the Fix it Center is using are exempted from your firewall. Also run Windows Update to ensure you have the latest .Net Framework installed -- recent reports have blamed unpatched .Net installations for connection problems.
