APNIC 30 moved from Bangkok to the Gold Coast

Organisation says safety must be the top priority

The Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) has moved its APNIC 30 event from troubled Bangkok to the Gold Coast in August.

In a statement on its website, APNIC said the safety of delegates should be the organisation’s primary concern.

Bangkok has been gripped by nation-stopping protests that have lead to a fatal crackdown by the Thai military in recent weeks.

“The APNIC EC and Secretariat extend their thanks to TOT for its hard work and support of APNIC 30 Bangkok and deeply regret the situation has necessitated this decision,” the APNIC website note reads.

APNIC 30 will be held from 24-27 August at the Marriott Hotel on the Gold Coast, Queensland.

Further details on the re-launched event will be provided on Monday 24 May.
