A quarter of web users play games on social networks, such as Facebook, on a regular basis, says PopCap.
Research by the free gaming website revealed that two thirds of these 'social games' play games on social networks at least once a week. On average, social gamers spend 39 percent of their social networking time playing games.
PopCap said there were more female social gamers than male, as 55 percent were women.
Furthermore, the average age of a social gamer is 38 in the UK and 48 in the US.
Only 23 percent of Brits that play games on social networks are 50 or older, and just six percent are 21 or younger.
