Windows Live Hotmail
Windows Live Hotmail has launched a new local domain, boosting the availability of email address options.
Australian users now have the opportunity to snare an address with the @hotmail.com.au domain, a NineMSN spokesperson confirmed.
In mid-2007, the Windows associated @live.com.au domain became available.
Competing email giant Gmail has no plans for a @gmail.com.au domain, a spokesperson told Computerworld. The only variation available is @googlemail.com for users in the UK and Germany.
Yahoo also offers local domain email addresses.
Late last year, thousands of Windows Live Hotmail account usernames and passwords had leaked to the Internet, believed to be stolen in a phishing attack.
Email users can sign up for an Australian Windows Live Hotmail address.
