How much NAC for your buck?

Two analysts give us their views on how much NAC you can get for your buck

Two analysts give us their views on how much NAC you can get for your buck.

“The prices and levels vary from vendor to vendor. You can buy almost a complete solution (depending on your environment) from a standalone NAC vendor like Bradford Networks from $10–20,000. Infrastructure vendors like Cisco and Juniper prices will vary as they have many components and existing customers may have license agreements as well. Software based vendors are bundling NAC functionality with their client security suites. With the seat price that would start from $20–25 per end node. The prices vary a lot and these numbers are perhaps a year old.” Forrester’s Usman Sindhu

“You can do NAC inexpensively if you use a standards based approach like 80211.x. There are also ways to do the guest networking solution inexpensively using capabilities embedded in the infrastructure and operating systems today. You can do basic guest networking project using standard techs quite inexpensively if you have modern infrastructure. For off the shelf, you’ll spend $5-10 per endpoint, which can add up pretty quick depending on how many endpoints you have.” Gartner’s Lawrence Orans
