Yahoo!7 introduces new interface, third party apps

Yahoo!7 Mail has moved to compete with social media giant Facebook through the introduction of a new look and feel to its Web email offering and a range of new features and third party applications.

Along with a crisper look, the site now offers users the ability to share and keep in touch with friends and family through a new notifications interface.

Users can now opt to see emails from people with whom they regularly communicate first, view messages only from Yahoo!7 contacts and share 50 photos or other files of up to 25 MB at once.

The calendar and notebook applications are now located on the bottom left of the Mail page and the email file size column is now off by default.

“Stay in touch with friends and family," Yahoo tells users. "See their emails first, get updates when they share photos, write reviews, and update status, receive birthday reminders!” .

With a new version of Yahoo!7 Mail for mobile, users can access Yahoo!7 Mail on their Internet-enabled phone.

Via a new applications section, users can access third party programs for use within their email browser, including:

• Big Sender by ZumoDrive – a method of sending large files, videos, photos, and entire folders
• My Photos by Xoopit - a way to see, share, and organise photos inside Yahoo! Mail
• PayPal – to send and request money
• Flickr and PhotoBucket – to share images
• Automatic Organizer by OtherInbox - allowing users to automatically finds emails that aren't from real people. The program organises the messages into folders so that users can read them when they’re are ready.

  “These apps enhance how you share, organize, and communicate in Yahoo!y Mail, Try them! They are free, and easy to add or remove anytime,” Yahoo tells users.
