Bernie Esner takes his leave from IDC

It's hard to keep track of what's happening at market researcher IDC. Just a few weeks ago the company announced a number of new appointments, and over the past six months it seems to have lifted staff numbers by about 18 or more to such unprecedented levels that it is having to move to bigger premises in North Sydney. But now IDC has lost PC analyst and industry identity Bernie Esner, who had been operating as the researcher's senior consultant.
Bernie has found a new job conducting benchmarking call centre research for the callcentre.net arm of ACA Research (acaresearch.com.au), which ironically is just around the corner from IDC's current office. As ever he is enthusiastic about his career change. "The market is very quiet, but not in the call centre arena", he claimed. "I'll be drilling into all the ACA research and it's mind-boggling. It's right up Bernie's alley: vertical, vertical, vertical!"
Bernie acknowledged he had started at IDC as a PC analyst at IDC, which had recently found that his strategic knowledge was no longer required and then that there was not enough work in the consulting arena. He now has a chance to broaden his horizons, he believes. "I'll become a call centre guru, not just focused on PCs," Bernie explained.
Back at IDC there are now two staff with a PC focus: senior analyst Logan Ringland and research analyst Reuben Tan.
