The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has released a second tender seeking mainframe developers and technical specialists for its Enterprise Applications team, on the back of another put out in June.
Successful candidates will be offered a 12-month contract, based in Canberra from mid-September, with the option of an extension of the same length.
According to the tender documents, applicants must have highly developed skills in TELON, COBOL and Cool:Gen languages, and experience in “large scale development application and maintenance covering both batch and online in a CICS DB2 mainframe environment using large data holdings”.
The positions require a highly protected security clearance or the ability to attain one. The tender closes on August 11.

Good luck finding them. The
Good luck finding them. The position's requirement for highly protected security clearances, means all applicants must be Aussie Citizens.
Very few Aussies want to work in Mainframe anymore.
They are out of touch with the resources available in the local market.

Mainframes expertise is hard to find. You'll probably be able to find them if you can reduce the security clearances. In essence, give a go at Temporary and Permanent residents with strict Confidentiality contracts.
