Cheating Aussies busted by SMS: report

Metro Queenslanders the worst offenders

A quarter of Australians have busted their cheating partners because of text messages, according to new research.

According to the Telstra State of the Nation survey of 1201 respondents, Queenslanders are the worst offenders with 27 per cent reporting they have discovered cheating partners compared with the national average of 22 per cent.

Men were reported as the worst SMS cheaters, with 26 per cent of women finding saucy text messages on their partners' phones compared to 16 per cent of men.

Close to half of "Generation Y" respondents have busted cheating partners by discovering raunchy SMSs, compared to 34 per cent of those aged between 24 and 35.

SMS cheaters were more common in metropolitan areas (24 per cent) compared to those in regional Australia (17 percent).

About 27 per cent of West Australians admit to having sent intimate messages to the wrong people, compared to the national average of 20 per cent.

Only 16 per cent of NSW residents admit to sending SMSs for lovers to the wrong recipients.

More than half of Generation Y respondents would rather text than meet in person or make a phone call, according to the report.

A quarter of the 18 to 24 year old age group send more than 10 text messages a day, over the Australian average of one to five SMSs.

Half of women surveyed reported they use mobile phones to “look busy”, compared to 39 per cent of men.

A third of respondents admit to texting in the cinema, followed by business meetings, funerals and weddings, and in church.

Social researcher and futurist Mark McCrindle said in a Telstra statement the report reflects the general lifestyles of Australians.

“The fact that one in three prefer texting to other communication forms signals the natural fit of this technology to our increasingly time poor, busy lifestyles,” McCrindle said.

Cheating Aussies - what a price to pay

If the figures regarding partners cheating are anywhere near accurate then I believe we have descened down to a new subterranean low ground. Oh dear what price to pay. Sell of your integrity for a dalliance or two.
Have a good look in the mirror and while you are trying to convince yourself that you are pretty cool customer think how that coincides with being a cheat, a deceiver and a traitor.
You may fool some some of the time but is that what yiu would really want to do to yourself. Oh dear a mask for this and a mask for that. How very sad.

....its no surprise...

.....either that or the percentages from this survey have the IQ of a dead rabbit.... Those that cannot drive there cell phones to avoid this really should have them taken off them.

But back to the cheating... Its starts with most sports you play, so is probably ingrained significantly in the penal based culture you have...

no surprise at all

Part of our non-penal culture, Anon 15:34, is to take the piss out of nosey busybodies who ask us questions that are patronising and unwanted (a bit like your intrusion).

So for example, if somebody asked me about these things, I would give them a load of old cobblers to see them make a fool of themselves. Works a treat, and as we would expect, Queensland and WA have the best sense of humour.

Cheating is a fact of life for some......in my game we do see it all the time!

I'm a PI with The Private Group. People engage us sometimes because they want to confirm or deny a suspicion. Sometimes they already know and just want proof. Sometimes they just want to know what's going on, so they can decide what they will do with their life.

Cheating does happen. The reasons seem diverse, I mean some men leave a beautiful wife at home to go and play with a less attractive woman? Is it the adventure, or proving they've still got it. Woman do the same!

Once you know, you have to decide for yourself what your going to do about it. Some accept it, some ignore it, some fly off the handle, some are very composed and start planning in a ruthless way....what you do is up to you, no one can tell you how to live your life.
