Netapp Honours Global Customers with 2008 NetApp Innovation Awards

Suncorp wins APAC Innovator of the Year

SYDNEY, Australia—May 22, 2009— NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) has honoured the winners of the 2008 NetApp Innovation Awards at an awards ceremony today in San Jose, California. The NetApp Innovation Awards recognise customers who implemented NetApp® solutions in an innovative way to positively impact their business.

More than 300 nominees competed for awards this year in the following seven categories: Innovator of the Year, Enterprise Business Applications, Enterprise Infrastructure, Green, Public Sector, Individual, and Humanitarian. One winner and two finalists were selected in each category by a third-party panel of judges that consisted of distinguished business and technology experts from the media and business communities. The Innovator of the Year category recognises one winner from each of the following three global geographies: Americas, APAC, and EMEA.

Jeff Smith, Suncorp’s group executive for business technology, said innovative business practices were critical, particularly in times of economic downturn.

“It is critical that companies continually look for ways to innovate and find more efficient ways to conduct their core business activities, and this becomes even more important in the challenging economic environment we are now responding to,” Mr Smith said.

“Suncorp’s business technology team has consistently looked for new ways to deliver services more efficiently, including through our Agile program, and is proud that our achievements have been recognised through the NetApp Innovation Awards.”

The NetApp Innovation Awards program distinguishes itself by relying on a prestigious third-party panel of judges for the seven main categories. These judges determine the award winners based on their outside expertise and a critical, unbiased assessment of real-world NetApp deployments at customer sites.
