CBA Netbank goes offline

Reports say services down for days

The Commonwealth Bank's online NetBank portal appears to be offline, with some reports suggesting the site has been only intermittently available over the last four days.

Some users attempting to use the system are instead redirected to an error page, while others enjoy unimpeded access.

The error page suggests the error could be a result of “very high usage, scheduled maintenance, or technical difficulties”.

The portal has been offline to at least some customers since 3PM today, and was last offline in December due to system faults.

Media inquiries have been lodged to the bank.

More to follow.

are you going to the correct url?

I log on daily for my personal and business requirements and I have not had one instance where the CBA system has reported an error.

What are the statistics on the ISPs or source IPs of the users having the issues?

Are people typing the correct url?

Why on earth people wouldn't have it bookmarked is beyond me, but that's a seperate story.

It was down for the last two days for me. All appears well this morning.

Netbank offline

I noticed Netbank outage a few times last week for short periods, and right now it is down for me and has been so for about an hour. I have the site bookmarked, but when I go to log in, I get the "NetBank is temporarily unavailable. This may be due to..." blah blah message. Pretty irritating for a Monday morning. Seems to be getting more frequent. Tried accessing from home this morning and no good either.

Commonwealth Netbank keeps logging me off

This problem seems to be an ongoing one, has been happening on and off for at least the last month. You either can't log in with the
NetBank is temporarily unavailable.

This may be due to:

* Very high usage;
* Scheduled maintenance; or
* Technical difficulties.
message or on reaching the home page are promptly logged off as soon as you click a tab to do a transaction etc

very inconvenient, just hope those in the know are working on fixing the problem.

CommBank & CommSec sites down

It's becoming a daily hassle to get on either of the Commonwealth Bank group sites lately, particularly CommBank. They need a kick up the bum to try and focus them on some customer service.

And yes, I have bookmarked the sites with the correct URLs.

Yep. The whole thing appears to have crashed. Grrrr. The least they could do is set up an informative error page. I'm getting nothing (>_<)

Commbank goes down just about once every day

It amazes me that after so many years of stuff ups that the CBA can never seem to sort out their server issues. Very very frustrating.

Netbank outages

How is a person supposed to run a business when Netbank has been offline for the most part since Sunday 21st June. I was lucky enough to find a window of opportunity last Monday which meant I could pay wages - today however it is a whole different story. Not even a glimmer of hope.

Commonwealth Bank would be better off spending our hard earned money on fixing their innumerable faults rather than lavish parties for their staff.

I check my account daily, yesterday I was able to login but not all information was available. Today however ... NOTHING! I run a small business and desperately need to see my transaction history. When I called customer service they said they too can't access my transaction history. What the hell is going on???!!!

I totally agree with your comments. The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (Netbank) is again unavailable, most of the day (Today 29/06/2009). How do I do business like this?... The Bsnk is rapidly loosing it's hard earnet reputation of yesteryears because of this. Please FIX THAT FOR GOOD... NNNOOOOWWWW>>>>

Netbank problems

Such problems are ultimately due to cost cutting. EDS application support was recently given to Indian-based companies because they are cheaper. 'Feel the price, not the quality'. EDS application support were mostly ex-CBA who had extensive knowledge & experience but most have been let go, with little or no knowledge transfer. While the Indian techos may be very bright they have no idea what they're going & are learning on the job. Problems which previously took 5 minutes to fix now take days. But at the end of the day the Bank doesn't care, because it SAVED MONEY. Large numbers of customers would have to shift before this 'drive without paying for insurance' policy may perhaps be reviewed. But dare I say the other banks have/will do the same to cut costs.

Netbank Unreliable

As of 30th June 2009, Netbank has been completely unavailable for days! That's just unnacceptable. To make matters worse, this is not even unusual. Their website has been so unreliable over the last 12 months that one almost expects to experience problems using Netbank. Inability to log on, complete transactions, or have the site hang when using it occur frequently.

Isolated incidents are understandable, by this pattern of events suggest a culture of penny pinching and bad management. It's not a good look for a bank!

Accountability @ Commbank

If the netbank issues are a result of EDS outsourcing the support to India....this is not an EDS issue......it is the CommBank Executive who has to have the ultimate accountability....they are the ones who would of told EDS to cut their costs and to have signed off on the offshoring. When are these Exec's going to show some backbone and own up to the decisions that only they can make. Also I think you either demand this accountability if you are a CommBank customer or move to another bank or shutup

NetBank completely unreliable

The Commonwealth Bank's Netbank seems to be increasingly down these days. I wonder what kind of decisions are being made at the 'top' to continuously allow this to happen? Most days that I log on, I am either logged off automatically once I try to complete a transaction, or even if I just try to search transactions! It makes conducting my business almost impossible.

All this fuss about Commonwealth Bank being the Bank of the Year etc. They need to pay attention to where it really counts. It's all very well having a swish shop front image and friendly staff who call you by your name, but it's not worth anything to me if I can't log on everyday and see who has paid their account and who hasn't!! Hmmmmm, I think outsourcing must be the problem, but at what cost really?

Sharpen up your act CommBank!! It's really not good enough.

EDS support of the NetBank application was transitioned to IBM about one year ago.

Passing Bucks

Sounds like EDS spin doctor is working on passing the bucks to it's rival IBM, who was only recent being invited by CBA to play a small role in CBA's Core Banking Modernisation project, among other smaller players like SAP and Accenture. EDS is still the core player for CBA IT services, fully responsible to have appropriate Disaster Recovery Plan to kick in and maintain business continuity.

NO MORE EXECUSES !!

I am going to vote with my feet to the bank that have good e-Banking system.

If you click on the acct you wish to view transactions for then click on search transactions (look in 2 week time frames) all your most recent transactions will appear correctly.

What spin? Its factual, IBM is responsible for Netbank and mainframe core legacy application support. By the way Accenture is not a small player they are CBA's key integrator responsible for the Core Banking Modernisation project - $560+ million.

All of the above has been announced in the press over the past year.
