HP scores $1.2M network deal for RNS hospital

R&D lab at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney will be equipped will get a new UC-enabled network.

Hewlett-Packard has inked a $1.2 million contract to outfit a new $99 million research and education centre at the Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) with fixed and wireless networks.

The development is part of $950 million government-funded redevelopment of the hospital, directed by North Sydney Central Coast Health (NSCCH).

The new twelve-storey Kolling Building will be outfitted with high speed wireless and fixed networks for voice and video services to be used by staff and students from RNS and the University of Sydney.

RNS redevelopment project acting director Deb Stewart said the networks will provide a platform for unified communications to be rolled out in the building.

The networks will include Cisco IP telephony and core switching.

The building includes an auditorium and interactive lecture theatre, a clinical skills simulation centre for medical training, six floors of wet-lab research space and a library.
