Expand Networks Wins Braemar Seascope as WAN Optimisation saves Shipping Experts over $20,000 per annum
 08 October, 2008 10:18

Sydney, 8th October 2008 – Expand Networks, a leading provider of application acceleration solutions over the Wide Area Network (WAN), today announced that Braemar Seascope, an integrated provider of broking and consultancy services to the shipping industry, has implemented Expand Network’s WAN Optimisation technology rapidly increasing satisfaction and productivity amongst its remote user and, introducing cost savings of up to $20,000 to $30,000 per year.

With offices around the world, Braemar Seascope relies heavily on its WAN for the transmission of business critical information relating to ships’ positions, capacity and rates. The company has implemented Expand’s Accelerators to combat latency issues at the critical point where the high bandwidth LAN meets the low bandwidth WAN.

Now in place Expand’s technology is delivering bandwidth increases from 100 to 400 % as Dario Vodopija, Commercial Manager, Braemar Seascope explains; “The feedback from users on the improvements delivered by the Expand’s solution was positive across all offices as they saw clear gains in application availability and response times. Whilst improved performance was a top priority for us, we were also keen to see a return on our investment as soon as possible. Expand’s technology is saving us between $20,000 and $30,000 per year through more effective bandwidth, putting us on track for complete return on investment within 18 months.”

Steve O’Brien, Vice President of Expand Networks APAC explains; “The combination of limited WAN bandwidth and the high cost of increasing that bandwidth, means that businesses are often forced to run applications with less than optimal conditions. Expand’s Quality of Service enforcement ensures that applications run unimpeded on the WAN. This is not just about prioritisation, but is also about decreasing congestion, marking packets for downstream QoS handling and rate control shaping to make sure flows get the bandwidth they need.”

Expand’s Accelerators also provide improved monitoring and management of network traffic with ExpandView, a customised central management solution providing a real time view of the WAN, along with the ability to monitor and manage the Accelerators via simple click and drag options.
