CEBIT: SuSE Linux to release Version 8.0 after CeBIT

German software vendor SuSE Linux AG will ship SuSE Linux 8.0, its latest version of the open-source Linux operating system, worldwide in the second half of April, spokesman Christian Egle said Friday.

SuSE Linux 8.0 Personal, which includes 60 days of installation support, is priced at €49.90 (AUD$86); SuSE Linux 8.0 Professional, including 90 days installation support, costs €79.90 (AUD$138); and SuSE Linux 8.0 Professional Update runs at €49.90.

The new version integrates Linux kernel 2.4.18, and features improvements such as better hardware recognition at installation, remote management functions, digital sound, and new games.

Further details about the release will be made available Wednesday at the CeBIT trade show, Egle said.
