MicroNet Technology has announced that its SANcube is now available in OS X-compatible configurations. The SANcube is a Storage Area Network (SAN) device with FireWire connectivity.
MicroNet offers a single user SANcube with up to 720GB of online storage and transfer rates of up to 33MB per second. The new dual-channel SANcube X-stream system arrays up to 720GB of storage and provides even faster throughput by striping data across two FireWire buses, thus providing up to 65MB per second sustained throughput.
MicroNet indicated that Mac OS X compatibility is limited at this time to single attached systems. Such systems incorporate RAID Level 0 support using ATTO Technology Inc.'s ExpressStripe software.
The 720GB SANcube and dual-channel SANcube X-stream array are both expected to be available next month.
