Raritan has Broadest KVM-over-IP Portfolio for Data Centres with Addition of an 8-port Switch-- Remote and ‘At-the-Rack’ Server Management Supports any Data Centre Environment --

SYDNEY, AUST. (February 20, 2008) – Raritan today announced the expansion of its award-wining Dominion® KX II portfolio with a new enterprise-class KVM-over-IP switch.

With the addition of the eight-port Dominion KX II-108 and the availability of the industry’s highest port density KVM-over-IP switch, the 64-port Dominion KX II-464, Raritan’s broad portfolio meets the needs of server rooms of all sizes, from eight to thousands of servers.

“There are real advantages in the Dominion KVM-over-IP switch family,” said Henry Hsu, Raritan Director of Enterprise Products. “Our product line can support almost any data centre scenario, so that distributed servers can be managed easily from one IP address. The eight-port model is also useful in managing servers in branch offices because it eliminates the need for on-site maintenance. By using the right combination of Raritan products, companies can increase productivity and service availability, reduce KVM life-cycle costs and scale with to meet growth demands.”

Gary Hull, Raritan Australia Director of Sales said, “We are expecting to see significant sales of the new Dominion KXII-108 in Australia and New Zealand as many 8-port KVM switches are sold into smaller data-centres, but the KXII-108 is the first KVM switch that offers the award-winning Dominion KX II features in an 8-port version.”

The Dominion KX II’s advanced productivity features include a number of industry firsts. Its unique Absolute Mouse Synchronization™ feature eliminates time-consuming steps to adjust mouse settings for each target server.

The KX II enables remote installation of software, file transfers, data back-up and diagnostics with its Universal Virtual Media feature and can control power to servers with optional remote Intelligent Power units.

For high availability, all models come with dual power supplies with automatic failover – the only KVM-over-IP switch with this feature. Another first is a browser-based user interface for both remote KVM management and for at-the-rack server management, providing a consistent user experience. The KX II also provides the industry’s highest remote-video resolution (1600 x 1200 pixels) and tight mouse synchronisation performance.

The self-contained Dominion KX II comes with all key features, including authentication and Web-access, built into the appliance. With KX II’s BIOS-level access, servers are accessible even if a server’s operating system is not working or the network interface card has failed.

Advanced security features include: 128-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) or RC4 encryption of keyboard, video and mouse data, strong password support, and built-in authentication capabilities.

Dominion KX II integrates easily with third-party AAA servers, and SNMP and Syslog event management systems. All KX II models are CommandCentre® Secure Gateway Certified, so that multiple Dominion switches and connected servers can be managed from one IP address.

The Dominion KX2-464 is priced at AUD$9,440 RRP, and the Dominion KX2-108 is priced at AUD$2216 RRP. Visit www.raritan.com.au/KVM for more information on the Dominion Series.

The new model joins the Dominion KXII family which won the 2008 InfoWorld Technology of the Year Award for KVM Switches www.raritan.com.au/about/abt_press_releases.aspx.

Other recent recognitions for the KX II include: Network Computing-UK Datacentre Product of the Year finalist, high review scores in NetWorld-Poland, and a 2008 IT Product award from Computerworld-Czech Republic.
