Also resistant to fire and salt
Staff Writers  21 November, 2007 16:01

Satellite radio communications company Bearcom today launched Motorola's GP628 waterproof two-way radio.

These radios are designed for harsh environments and is the toughest built by Motorola to date.

The dust tight and water submersible radio is designed to withstand all environments and is also resistant to fire and salt.

Daniel Gleeson is Bearcom's brand manager and claims demand for the new technology is almost outstripping supply.

"Motorola radios have always been tough but the GP628 is the most rugged yet. It's built to military standards and it can be dropped or left in a metre of water for 30 minutes before any damage occurs," Gleeson said. "It's ideal for people who constantly work in dirty, wet environments and really give their two way radios a hammering."

The radio is also light, compact and durable, making it an ideal resource for the outdoor, leisure and construction industries.

Gleeson nominated surf lifesavers and workers at public swimming pools and marinas as ideal candidates for the device.

Bearcom is the radio communications division of TR Corporation.
