Softek Storage Solutions this week announced enhancements to its storage management software that allow users to migrate and replicate data faster.
The host-based Transparent Data Migration Facility (TDMF) Windows (IP) software delivers a 50% increase in performance for data being replication or migrated between storage systems, according to Softek. Faster data algorithms in the product use network bandwidth more intelligently, the company says.
A new Data Migration Performance Assist feature is designed to simplify local data migrations and guarantees application uptime. The feature reduces resource consumption by eliminating the use of the TCP/IP stack for local data migrations.
TDMF Windows moves data over an IP network and works with any volume manager, file system or application. The software is installed on a Windows server.
TDMF Windows allows migrations to be restarted from the point of a broken network connection and the locking of target disks to maintain consistency. Further, the software can automatically copy Windows disk shares to the remote server and automatically expand target volumes after migration. Migration or replication of the boot drive is also possible so IT can remotely copy applications and operating systems.
In the latest version, TDMF Windows supports Microsoft Cluster Server from the central management console as well as VMware virtual machines and Windows Vista. Pricing is not available.
