APC to open new training centre

Focus on data centre design

American Power Conversion (APC) will today open a new Asia-Pacific demonstration and training centre based in Sydney.

The new centre will train 150 people per month.

APC already has sites in Auckland, Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane and Singapore which train up to 80 people a month.

The North Sydney Centre, which will be used by customers in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, China and India, features a test laboratory for data centre design and "proof of concept" demonstrations.

The centre can develop "what-if" scenarios focused on power, cooling, security, and environmental monitoring.

Training will also cover data centre design and operations.

Federal Minister for Human Services Joe Hockey will officially open the centre later today.

Hockey said APC is a valuable addition to local IT infrastructure.

The event will also be attended by APC's Asia Pacific vice president David Plumer.
